Tips & Information on Ordering Extension Springs
 

To Weigh your Door properly: 

 

Place door in the fully open position and be sure to disconnect your garage door opener if you have one. 

 

Use vice grips under the bottom rollers to keep the door in the open position.   

 

Now that the springs will have no tension, so it is safe to unhook them temporarily. Now place a bathroom scale on the floor in the center of the door- so that the door will be on top of it when closed. With the assistance of another person, the door may be heavy, carefully lower the door to the fully closed position to get a correct weight.  

 

Take note of the weight. 

 

Once you have the weight of the door it is now time to order the correct springs- They come in pairs. For installation instructions please see the “How to” video on installing and adjusting your extension springs.
